As a teaching facility, as well as a purveyor of performing arts, Mountain Dream takes its responsibilities with regard to providing a safe and responsible environment for our staff, students, actors and crew.
We will be building on the COVID protocols that the Mary Winspear Center has already in place, in accordance with the Go Forward Strategy Checklist (GFSC) as published by BC Government Public Safe and Emergency Services.
We also recognize that this is all new for everyone, and that situations will arise that we were not expecting. We will always err on the side of caution. These policy and procedure statements are subject to being changed and updated regularly.
All students and staff will be screened each day to determine their ability to enter rehearsal. Entry will be prohibited for anyone who:
has the symptoms of a cold, flu, or Covid-19 including a cough, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, fatigue or are feeling unwell;
Has been on a flight in the last 14 days;
Has been in contact with someone experiencing symptoms, or has been on a flight in the last 14 days
Students who have a pre-existing condition or other illness will be asked to stay home.
Hygiene & Cleaning
Handshakes and hugs are not permitted, sorry, as the “new normal”.
Cast and staff must wash their hands with soap and water upon arrival, before and after a meal break
Cast and staff should refrain from touching one’s face
Hand sanitizer will be available throughout all rehearsal areas and should be used frequently
Cast will be assigned specific seats in the theatre. This is where they should stow their gear, and is the only seat allowed to be used. Seats will be sanitized at the end of each day.
Reasonable physical distancing will be observed, in accordance with the guidelines found in the GFSC.
When physical distance is not practicable, staff will wear masks.
Doors will be propped open when transiting, to minimize contact.
Costumes will be provided by MDP to the cast in a bag. Only one costume will be worn by most cast. In this case, the costume will be cleaned and packaged and then delivered to the actor on the day of any show or rehearsal.
There will be no application of makeup. Makeup (if any) must be applied at home, before arriving at the theatre
Hair should be prepared by the actors and/or the parents before arriving at the theatre. If there is a requirement to do remedial hair repair before a rehearsal or show, the staff will wear a mask and gloves to do so.
Props and Set pieces will be sanitized daily after handling, if necessary.
The stage will be marked off for physical distancing.
